Is the hope that he could become our # 4 D after the big 3? is he that good of a player - I know nothing about him. |

I wish they would put a priority on signing Stone. I loved how he played with Brodie when he came over from the Coyotes. I do see him as a bonafide # 4 D, I guess it never hurts to keep looking (Ruuta) but let's put a priority on what we know - and we know Stone. Plus, he wants to stay here - and he fit in great with the team.

The Vegas situation confuses things. For all we know, the Flames may already have a deal in place with Stone but don't want to sign him until after the expansion draft...as they risk losing him or one of the top 3. Vegas can still make an offer but if Stone wants to stay in Calgary, he can refuse it, then sign with Calgary after the draft. At least that's how I understand it. As far as Ruuta, who knows where he might fit but the organization carries 15-20 Dmen in total. |

Yeah, that makes sense with Stone. It's just that the silence on him seems to indicate that they are moving on from him. You are right, it makes zero sense to sign him until after Vegas picks their team.

I haven't heard Prybils name since last summer. Does he have a shot at a NHL spot this year? |

15 points in 33 games in the A, don't see that (barring a very impressive camp) he has a realistic shot of cracking an everyday lineup. Probably gets a look at some point, but injuries and a pretty so/so performance have me thinking that's late in the season at best.
Unless he lights the AHL on fire next year... |

Yeah I have a feeling this is the case with a lot of UFAs around the league. Wouldn't be surprised if Versteeg had a deal on the shelf with us waiting until the expansion draft passes, either
I don't know much about this Ruuta guy, but it seems odd to me to be looking at him considering how many defense prospects we have. I guess if they think the guy is for real then why not? |

always hard to know how their game will translate to the NHL
If it doesn't cost us much to sign its worth a shot since you arent havent to give up assets... |

Just ice time and opportunity that other prospects could really use.
If we're bringing in a 26 year old he better be at least close to ready for the NHL. |

Gotta be tough for Pribyl to go from Europe to the AHL....a year of adjustment is very justifiable. The A is a good league but it would be a poop show for a skilled euro to come over to. Could be some good depth time will tell. |

Likely, again, unless he really comes out strong this year. Injuries and a 1st year in North America last year make it somewhat more likely he could see another year on a minor league deal, but with just 5 goals in 33 games, he's got a lot to prove this season for sure. |
